Why CES Energy

The gaps other assessors leave open, we close

We built our service around the three things clients tell us are missing everywhere else: clear pricing, proof of quality, and straight answers.

1

Prices published, openly

We are one of the only assessors in the country that publishes pricing. You get a fixed quote, not a vague estimate.

2

Real sample reports

See exactly what you receive before you order. Download genuine BASIX, NatHERS and Section J samples.

3

Independent and accredited

Accredited through Design Matters National and ABSA, and independent of suppliers, so the advice is impartial.

4

Fast, council-ready

A 48 to 72 hour standard turnaround and a 100% approval record. If a council queries it, we fix it at no cost.

What clients say

Trusted by designers, builders and developers

We had a BASIX certificate back the next morning with the commitments mapped straight onto our drawings. It saved us a full revision cycle.
Residential designerSydney (final attribution TBC)
The Section J report was clear enough that our private certifier signed off without a single query. That is rare.
Project builderNewcastle (final attribution TBC)
Their JV3 model gave us the glazing we wanted on the north facade without blowing the energy budget. Genuinely useful advice, not just a tick.

Questions

The things people ask us most

How much does a BASIX certificate cost?

Our BASIX certificates start from $165 per dwelling, with a fixed quote before you commit. We publish our pricing openly so there are no surprises. Multi-dwelling and larger projects are quoted per project, usually at a lower rate per unit.

How fast can I get my certificate?

Standard turnaround is 48 to 72 hours from receiving your plans. If you are up against a lodgement deadline, tell us when you request a quote and we will confirm a priority timeline.

Do you guarantee council approval?

Every certificate we issue is prepared to be council-ready and compliant. We have a 100% approval record, and if a council ever queries one of our reports we resolve it at no extra cost.

Can I see a sample report before I order?

Yes. We publish real sample BASIX, NatHERS and Section J reports so you can see exactly what you receive. Most providers will not show you this. You can download them from our sample reports page.

Which areas do you cover?

We assess and certify Australia-wide. BASIX applies in NSW, while NatHERS, Whole-of-Home, Section J and JV3 apply nationally. We work to the correct climate zone and state variations for your site.

Are you accredited and independent?

Yes. We are accredited through Design Matters National and ABSA, and NABERS accredited for commercial work. We are independent of manufacturers and suppliers, so our advice is impartial.

What do you need from me to start?

Usually just your architectural plans and the site address. For thermal and commercial work a window schedule and construction details speed things up. Upload what you have with your quote request and we will tell you if anything is missing.

What is the difference between BASIX and NatHERS?

BASIX is the NSW sustainability index covering water, energy and thermal comfort for a development application. NatHERS is the national thermal performance star rating. In NSW a BASIX certificate often relies on a NatHERS assessment for the thermal comfort component, which is why we offer them as a bundle.
